Sustainability plays a major role at the OCÉANO and not just in recent times. Treating the environment and its resources with respect has always been of great importance in this place so shaped by nature. The preservation and contemporary modernisation of the building, the use of natural and environmentally friendly building materials as well as energy-saving technologies all contribute significantly to our sustainability goals. This is why inside the OCÉANO you will find mostly solid wood furniture, floors made of wood or natural stone, fabrics and carpets made of cotton and linen, metal-free beds made of natural materials and, here and there, historic pieces of furniture that have been carefully maintained and preserved over the years.

For the sake of the environment and the ocean, several years ago we replaced plastic bottles with reusable ones throughout the entire hotel. Each guest receives his or her own bottle, which can be filled at any time and free of charge with filtered water at several tap stations. Whenever possible and when hygiene regulations permit, we avoid individual packaging and present food items loosely on the buffet for guests to portion themselves.

Regional goodness

The year-round mild climate and sufficient rainfall allow papayas, oranges, lemons, bananas as well as avocados to thrive on the island. This makes it possible for us to buy at the local market and save long transport routes. You can taste for yourself the freshness and the unique flavours each day in our restaurant.
We get our high-quality goat’s milk products directly from a goat farm in Punta del Hidalgo. Thanks to the rich fishing grounds still found in the Atlantic, you can enjoy a “pescado del dia” at OCÉANO caught in the area by traditional means. We also stay local when it comes to wine, as winegrowing has a centuries-old tradition on the Canary Islands that wins over even wine connoisseurs with a selection of excellent reds and whites.
