The Beginnings in 1964/65
Karl and Käthe Rolle discover their place in Tenerife: an almost untouched stretch of coastline with views to the west and of Mount Teide. This is where the OCÉANO is destined to take shape.
1975
The opening of the OCÉANO Hotel marked the culmination of a decade of intensive planning and vision. From the initial idea to welcoming the first guests, ten years of dedication and commitment shaped its creation. This special place was designed to offer rest, relaxation, and a deep connection with nature.
Today, the OCÉANO stands as a leading destination in health tourism, maintaining its authenticity while delighting guests with modern comforts.
1978
Dr. Jürgen Rolle takes over sole management of the OCÉANO in its second generation. In the same year, a devastating storm floods the lower levels of the hotel. This natural disaster has far-reaching consequences for tourism in Tenerife, leading to a growing shift towards the south of the island.
While the south becomes increasingly developed for tourism, the north retains its original, untouched beauty and preserves its authentic charm.
2000
The current owner and physician, K. Matthias Rolle, joined the company in its third generation. Since taking over, he has continued the tradition of health care and the commitment to guest well-being. With a clear focus on innovation and sustainability, he is guiding the OCÉANO towards a future-oriented path while staying true to the values that have shaped the hotel over the years.
2001
Matthias Rolle takes over OCÉANO’s health division and establishes Spain’s first Mayr Centre, setting new standards in health tourism. The F. X. Mayr Centre offers guests innovative programmes focused on regeneration and prevention, rooted in the medical principles of Franz Xaver Mayr.
By introducing these specialised treatments, Matthias Rolle strengthens OCÉANO’s profile as a leading medical health resort, offering a unique combination of traditional and modern preventive healthcare.
2019
The OCÉANO undergoes extensive modernisation and expansion. After just five months of closure and construction, the hotel reopens in a fresh new light: featuring a modern, sea-facing pool, a new F. X. Mayr restaurant, a dedicated building for fitness and yoga, and contemporary design throughout.
The renovation brings a breath of fresh air and sets new standards in comfort and wellness, while preserving the hotel’s rich sense of tradition. Guests can look forward to a unique and modern holiday experience.
2025
With heartfelt gratitude, the Rolle Corominas family celebrates the 50th anniversary of the hotel, while joyfully looking ahead to a future that will remain in family hands. For five decades, the family has shaped the hotel’s development, placing great emphasis on tradition, innovation, and the well-being of its guests.
The vision lives on, and the unwavering commitment to offering guests a unique experience at this special place will continue for many decades to come.
